Precautions for Capacitor Installation

Technical Support

  • For high-voltage current-limiting fuses , the rated current should be selected at 1.65 to 2.5 times the rated current of the capacitor.

  • For low-voltage protection , high-interrupting capacity fuse-links or circuit breakers should have a rated current of at least 1.35 times the capacitor’s rated current.

  • When installing two or more capacitors side by side , maintain a minimum clearance of 8 cm between units to facilitate proper heat dissipation.

  • When connecting high-voltage capacitors or outdoor-type low-voltage capacitors in parallel , avoid using copper busbars for wiring.

  • The capacity of wiring and switching equipment must be no less than 1.35 times the capacitor’s rated current.

  • During maintenance , discharge the capacitors properly:

    • For high-voltage capacitors: wait at least 5 minutes after disconnecting power.

    • For low-voltage capacitors: wait at least 3 minutes after power-off. Then use an appropriate conductor to discharge between terminals and from terminals to ground. Proceed only after confirming that no residual voltage remains.
