When power factor correction capacitors are used to improve the power factor of an
induction motor with Y-Δ (star-delta) starting, incorrect wiring can lead to capacitor damage.
Therefore, it is essential to
follow the correct wiring method as shown in Figure 1
.
Note
If the starter uses mechanical contacts,
abnormal voltages may be generated upon stopping.
To prevent this, after turning off the main power switch,
wait until the motor comes to a complete stop before returning the contacts to their original position.
